4-H Youth Development 2008 National 4-H Week: Keeping it Green!

What is 4-H?

4-H is a club for kids and teens. But 4-H is like no club you’ve ever seen before. Most of all, 4-H is fun for you!

In each of the four “Hs”, you’ll have fun with old and new friends:

Head: developing life skills and knowledge Heart: building self esteem and supporting positive values that build character Hands: fostering active citizenship and service to others Health: teaching healthy habits ...at different types of 4-H camps ...at 4-H club meetings ...in ski clubs, horse clubs and other special groups ...in 4-H community service projects ...in individual 4-H projects about topics you pick ...on trips to places nearby and far away ...on international adventures ...in groups that work with helpful teen and adult leaders.

What more can you tell me about 4-H? 4-H is an informal education program for youths. It is a national organization, but each state has its own 4-H program under the direction of the state’s Extension Service.

4-H is designed to teach youths leadership, citizenship, and life skills while providing a safe and fun environment where they can explore new ideas, gain new knowledge, and develop new skills under the supervision of caring adult volunteers. At its heart, 4-H is ultimately a service organization, dedicated to the four-fold development of head, heart, hands, and health.

Welcome to the Morgan County 4-H!

This site contains information and links that will keep our members and the public informed of the activities happening in the programs we support as well as how to become involved in these programs.

West Virginia University Extension Service enables families and youths to improve their lives through educational programs and activities in the areas of nutrition and health, literacy, family life, international awareness, career and post-secondary opportunities, and life skills development. More than 45,800 youths are involved each year in program efforts. Over 10,000 community volunteers contribute to these efforts.
